What could be a perfect gift for Children – Who themselves are a perfect gift from God!
They might annoy us, they might irritate us, and they might provoke us to scream and shout or get angry, but the truth is that our life is incomplete without them. They are a motivation for what all we do; they are the reason for our being!
As parents we want the best of everything for our kids and we don’t hesitate to go an extra mile to get them what they want. Of course, they deserve it, though within the limits. But sometimes, we get so occupied to get them the materialistic pleasures and fulfill their worldly desires that we tend to ignore their basic need for love and affection. Bluntly putting forth, even children have got so accustomed to the happiness linked with materialistic things that they try to find their happiness in them only. They have somehow accepted the fact that the time and company of their parents is scarce.
This is more prominent in urban nuclear families, where both parents are working, which leaves them with very limited time for kids. Though regardless to say, parents with limited time are best at managing everything within that limited duration and they focus to spend quality time with their kids than quantity time.
Instead of getting upset about the little time you get to spend with your child each day, it is better to focus on turning that little time in into memorable moments. For parents who have to rush to office almost at the same time as their kids go to school, to meet again in the late evening, here are a few tips to make the best of that little time you get with your kids on a regular weekday.
Getting Ready in Morning
Though it is quite understandable that the clock runs at its fullest speed in morning and you have multiple stuffs to be done in very little time, but keep talking to your child while the entire duration. You can also involve them in doing things if they can. This will not just give them a feeling of involvement and but also make them proud to be able to help you.
When they are back from school
Being a working parent, it is not possible to be physically present with your kids at home once they come back from school, but you can still make the feel your presence with the help of technology. Get into a call/ video call with them, ask about their day at school, their plans for the remaining day and guide them wherever required.
Evening Time
Make sure that once you are back home after a long day at work, you leave all your office tensions behind. This time belongs to you and your family and your kids. No one else has a right to interfere here…not even your mobile. Yes, you read it correctly, leave your mobile, except for any important calls that can’t wait any longer. Encourage your kids to chat with you and openly talk to you about all their life while you are simultaneously doing the household chores. Dinner time has to be family time where kids can be equal participants.
