What words couldn't express...

Words are not always the best expression

It's been a few months that she visited her home town. A sort of home sickness was slipping in you can say, still the reason for stay back was good enough.

She came back from the classes, packed her small bag thinking to utilize the coming weekend to make a short visit to home. She informed him over the call with an assurance to meet before leaving. Took an auto to his house to bid good bye for next two days, least aware of how her decision would change in a jiffy.


The bell rang and he somehow managed to open to door, shivering and trembling. “Oh my god…what happened to you? You were just perfect an hour back”. Barely able to speak, he simply went back and slipped inside the blanket. His body temperature shot up like anything and was almost burning. She looked into his eyes and there was absolute silence, a silence that only the two could hear, a silence that said much more than the words could have said.


Not a single word spoken, but she could hear aloud the expression of love and the hidden fear of losing the one you love. It was not something she had expected, she was stunned but somewhere in a hidden corner of her heart there was a gleam of content that was enough to explicate their togetherness.


It was the time when they both realized that they are now inseparable. When just a thought of someone moving away for a very short interval could create unease to this degree, separation actually becomes out of question. 


The bag kept lying unattended in an isolated corner of the room for the next few hours till the time they both shared an acceptance to each other’s irreplaceable position in their lives. That was start of a new phase of life where everything seemed to be bright and colorful; old friends but a new avatar, longstanding relationship but uncovered feelings, two individuals but one soul.


Bag that lay still in the corner of the room was the only witness…
